Can you believe it I’ve been blogging for a whole year! It’s been a blast and it’s also been the bane of my life. My blog has come a long way in just one year. From getting my own domain to going self hosted, i took some big blogger steps in the first year. I wanted to take the time in this post to reflect on my first year…
First off can we just ignore how many times i’m probably going to say year in this post, the word already looks alien ha ha.
Where did it all start?
i started my blog as a way of being productive and making use of my spare time. I’ve always had a love for all thing beauty and i had been following other bloggers and youtubers for years, so i thought why not make my own. Then one rainy Sunday ‘My Many Loves’ born. After many doubts on whether to actually post anything it wasn’t until a few days later that i actually posted anything and even that was only an ‘into’ post.
The Big Changes
One of the biggest changes i made within my first year was changing platforms. Changing from blogger to wordpress self hosted was one of the most stressful things i’ve been through (slight exaggeration). Nothing went right nor was it as easy as i thought it was going to be. It took 2 whole weeks for my blog to get up and running again after multiple breakdowns and when i thought i lost all of my content (it was traumatic).
However 4 months on from making the big change i’m so happy that i did. With self hosting i finally feel like my blog is finally all mine instead of being owned by google on blogger. I have so much more freedom and room for creativity with wordpress than i did with blogger and i feel like that shows in my post content.
I’m not someone who pays much attention or has much care for my social and blogging stats but of course to a certain degree is does matter. In fact i’m thinking of creating a whole post on my thought of this topic. However stat wise my blog has done well, more and more people are reading and interacting with my blog everyday which is fab to see. I’ve always blogged for me but it’s good to know people are actually reading and enjoying my content.
Social media, making friends and interacting…
One of the best things about blogging for me is the interactivity. I love interacting with other bloggers, replying to tweets, scrolling the gram and catching up with my blogger group chats. Although there can often be a lot of drama in the blogging world it also has to be one of the most supportive and encouraging at the same time. I’ve made some amazing friends in my first year, ones who i can talk to about anything, ones i go to for any blogging related help and the ones who feel like real life friends.
Plans for the future…
Who knows? I just want to carry on creating and making my way in the blogging world. One plan for the next year however is to hopefully invest in a DSLR camera, i’m really keen to upgrade my photography content in the coming year. I mean don’t get me wrong my iphone camera is doing the trick but i’d really like to make my photo’s more seamless. If you have any camera recommendations be sure to leave them in the comments! That aside i’m just here to have fun, i love blogging and all that it entails even when it gets tough.
So here’s to another year, thank you to all my loyal readers those from the start and those who are new. Your support means the world and gives me that little spur on every single day. Ta-ta for now!
