Essence Haul & First Impressions
When it comes to budget friendly drugstore brands i look no further than Essence. With thousands of products to choose from there’s something for everyone and i’ve found some of my own holy grail products within the brand. When popping into wilko last week i had to make a re route to the essence stand to see what was new or if there was anything that took my fancy and here’s what i picked up…
Now if there’s one one thing you pick up from essence make sure it’s one of their bronzers. If you’ve been following me for a while you would know that my holy grail bronzer is their sun club bronzer in sun kissed, it has a massive pan, is the perfect colour and smells like a tropical paradise. As i’ve majorly hit pan on my current one i knew i had to pick up a back up however this time i went for the darker one in sunny as i’m slightly more tanned at the moment.
While picking up that bronzer i noticed that they have added a new bronzer to the range the Luminous Matte Bronzer in Sunglow (Darker Skin) has a matte yet luminous finish that adds such a beautiful glow. It’s not at all sparkly nor does it contain any chunky glitter it really does just glow. I’m not sure if it fully replaces my sun club bronzer but it is a good contender and will be perfect for my holiday! (how many times can i say bronzer)
Something essence have quite the name for is their mascara’s however i’ve never tried any myself, so when i saw that they had released a couple of new ones in their summer collection i thought it would be the perfect time to pick one up. The one i went for is the Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara, it has super cute packaging and a traditional spooly wand which i really like. I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing mascara nor does it replace my trusty maybelline lash sensational but it is a good mascara none the less.
Another favourite of mine from essence is their eyeshadow primer’s the one i normally pick up is the one in a concealer style applicator however i decided to pick up the 2 in 1 Eyeshadow and Primer Base in Nude Beige this time and so far i really like it. If you are a fan of mac paint pots then you will love this budget friendly alternative (not dupe). It covers up the veins on my eyelids really well and help to make my eyeshadow apply and blend seamlessly.
Disappointingly in my haul is the Eyebrow Colour & Shape Gel in Brown, now this i had high hopes for but i really just didn’t pack a punch formula wise. It’s way too creamy which sounds good but in an eyebrow gel it doesn’t work, i found it quite slippery to work with and the pigmentation was just not there.
On a higher note i finally got my hands on another one of their Matt lip glosses. These things always seem to be out of stock in my local store! I love the formula of these ‘lip glosses’, they dry down matte but not to a ‘dry’ matte, think nyx soft matte lip cream formula. The shade i picked up was in beauty approved!
Last but not least i picked up another pack of the All About Matte Oil Control Papers, these things are so handy to chuck into your bag for touch ups during the day and help get rip of any unwanted shine. While on the topic of mattifying i also pick up the Instant Matte Makeup Setting Spray . I’m not sure if it’s new but I’ve never seen it before myself so i had to pick it up. It’s the one thing in this haul that i haven’t fully road tested yet but so far i really like the mist on it, it’s super fine and doesn’t soak you or leave little white dots behind.
And that’s it, my little essence haul. Do you have any firm favourite’s from the brand or have you never tried it for yourself? Is so what are you waiting for?
