3 Books On My Summer Reading List

July 10, 2017

For anyone who knows me in real life you would know that 90% of the time, i’ve always got my head stuck in a book. Ever since i was little i’ve always been an avid reader. I don’t typically have a favourite genre although i am impartial to a good mystery or dystopian story line. As i’m such a book worm i though i would share a bit of that on to my blog as i really enjoy reading other people’s book posts! First up are the next few books on my reading list…

One Of Us Is Lying – Karen M McManus
Back Cover Synopsis:
Five students go to detention. Only four leave alive.
Yale hopeful Bronwyn has never publicly broken a rule. Sports star Cooper only knows what he’s doing in the baseball diamond. Bad body Nate is one misstep away from a life of crime. Prom queen Addy is holding together the cracks in her perfect life. And outsider Simon, creator of the notorious gossip app at Bayview High, won’t ever talk about any of them again. He dies 24 hours before he could post their deepest secrets online. Investigators conclude it’s no accident. All of them are suspects. Everyone has secrets, right?

Now that’s a gripping first line right?! This book is said to be a mash up for fans of pretty little liars and gossip girl, both of which are my favourite shows so i knew i had to add it to my list! I’ve actually already started reading this and so far i’m hooked. I love the writing style and the story line is really gripping.

Slated – Terri Terry
Back Cover Synopsis:
Kyla’s memory has been erased, her personality wiped blank, her memories lost for ever. She’s been Slated. The government claims she was a terrorist, and that they are giving her a second chance – as long as she plays by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?

Another book that grabbed me in from the synopsis. As i mention i love dystopian books with a corrupted government so this sounds right up my street! I have read other books from Terri Terry and i’ve loved them all so hopefully this book makes the cut too!

Ink – Alice Broadway
Back Cover Synopsis:
Every action, every deed, every significant moment is tattooed on your skin for ever. When Leora’s father dies, she is determined to see her father remembered forever. She knows he deserves to have all his tattoos removed and made into a Skin Book to stand as a record of his good life. But when she discovers that his ink has been edited and his book is incomplete, she wonders whether she ever knew him at all.

I know you are always told to not judge a book by it’s cover but when browsing in my local waterstones recently this cover caught my eye straight away. The cover has a beautiful copper foiled pattern and just looked really intriguing. Luckily when i read the synopsis it sounded like something i would go for anyway! I love the idea of this book in that your life events get tattooed on your skin like a story book, i can’t wait to read it!

If you’ve read any of these books i’d love to know (spoiler free of course). Also let me know what books are on your reading list as i’m always looking for some reccomendations!
